MyOwnArc ("we", "us") is a research library service at myownarc.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the service, we don't sell or share your data for advertising, and your research library belongs to you.
To answer your questions, relevant passages from documents in your library are sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which generates the cited answers. Under Anthropic's commercial API terms, this data is not used to train their models. We never use your library content for advertising, and we never disclose one user's content to another except where you have chosen to share it, as described next.
On the Lab plan you can mark one of your folders as shared with your group. Everyone in that group can then read the documents in it and its subfolders, including the PDFs, and can add their own documents alongside yours. Nothing is shared unless you choose to share it, one folder at a time.
Sharing grants reading, not control: only the person who added a document can edit or delete it. Your notes, highlights, saved chats and extraction matrices are never shared. They stay private to you even on a document your colleagues can see. If you leave the group, or the group's admin removes you, your shared folders stop being shared and your library stays entirely yours.
Members of a group can see each other's account email addresses, so that they know who can read what they share. A group's admins can additionally see how many documents each member has, to manage the group's seats, never what those documents are.
MyOwnPurse (myownpurse.com) is the Robin of Loxley money app, free with your MyOwnArc account. If you choose Open MyOwnPurse on your Account page, we send it your name, your email address and our own id for you, so you arrive signed in there without making a second account. We only do this once you've confirmed your email address with us.
Nothing from your library crosses: no documents, notes, highlights or chats. Nothing in MyOwnPurse comes back to MyOwnArc. MyOwnPurse keeps its own data in its own database, under its own privacy page, and you can delete it there whenever you like.
When you email us at hello@myownarc.com, your message, your name and email address, and the details we hold about your account are sent to Anthropic, who provide our AI assistant (Claude), so it can sort the message and draft a reply. A person reads the draft before anything is sent. Anthropic process this on our behalf and do not use it to train their models.
If you are in the UK/EU, these rights operate under UK GDPR / GDPR; the lawful basis for processing is performance of our contract with you (providing the service) and legitimate interest (security, service improvement).
The marketing site sets no cookies. The app sets one strictly-necessary session cookie to keep you signed in. That's it, hence no cookie banner.
